When I took charge as the Project Director of Manipur Development Society (MDS), I was left with mixed feelings—one of fait accompli and another of hope. Looking at the outstanding works churned out by the MDS in the past, I was confident that MDS still has the wherewithal and capacity to turn things around. With the appointment of a newfull-fledged Chairman since September, 2020 and a committed team to revamp the MDS, the wheels of change began to move, albeit slowly, to overcome years of confused inertia.
Without further ado, MDS is now on the right track and inching towards a promising future. MDS must now seize upon the trust of the people and deliverresults of a professionally managed Society, predominantly in infrastructure creation in Sports, Tourism, Health, tribal development areas, agri and allied activities, etc., in a time bound manner.
Noteworthy of mention is that the MDS team has conceptualised the inhouse project of Multi Utility Youth Centres that will wean away the youths from a culture of drugs and apathy towards a productive lifestyle characterised by health building, knowledge sharing and spiritual healing for all round development. In the 1st Phase, 10 (ten) MUYCs at various locations will be constructed and open for the benefit of youths.
All credit goes to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur and Hon’ble Chairman, MDS for theirvision and support and believing in the idea of MDS.
I hope this coffee table book will be the harbinger of better things to emanate from MDS that will serve the state like none has so far. MDS has not seen its best days yet.

When I was appointed as Project Director of Manipur Development Society (MDS), it gave me mixed feelings . Looking at the outstanding works churned out by the MDS in the past gave me reassurance that MDS has in it the wherewithal and capacity to make things happen. The institutional lapses whether advertent or inadvertent gives one red flags to ponder. However, with the appointment of a new full fledged Chairman since September, 2020 and a committed team to revamp the MDS, its staff structure and working culture, it gives me hope that all is not lost.
In fact, MDS is now on the right track to tie up the loose ends and move forward to a rigorous institutional reforms, mostly to regain the trust of the people in its ability to meet the objectives it has been entrusted within a time bound manner.
Already, the MDS team has conceptualised the Multi Utility Youth Centre that will wean away the Youths from a culture of drugs and apathy towards a productive lifestyle characterised by health building, knowledge sharing, transformation into a youths’ hub for all round development.
With this, I hope the coffee table book will be harbinger of more good things to emanate from MDS that will serve the state like none has so far.
